Paddy Casey

Paddy Casey is a singer-songwriter from Cashel Road. He received his first guitar at 12 and began his music career busking on the streets of Galway and Dublin. By 24, he was discovered by Sony A & R scout Hugh Murray while performing in Dublin. Sony offered him studio time, leading to a recording contract and the release of his debut album “Amen (So Be It)” in 1999, which went triple platinum in Ireland. The album, featured a mix of styles, with standout tracks like “Winter’s Fire” and “Sweet Suburban Sky,” the latter appearing on the US TV show Dawson’s Creek. Casey’s success earned him nominations for Best Irish Songwriter and Best Male Singer at the Hot Press Awards, and he supported major acts like R.E.M. and The Pretenders on tour.

In 2003, Casey released his second album, “Living”. The album included hits like “Saints and Sinners” and “The Lucky One,” and achieved multi-platinum status in Ireland. “Living” topped the Irish Albums Chart and was the highest-selling Irish album of 2004. Casey won consecutive Meteor Irish Music Awards for Best Irish Male in 2004 and 2005, and his live performances, including a sold-out show at Dublin’s RDS and a residency at the Olympia Theatre, garnered positive reviews.

In 2005, Casey extensively toured Ireland and abroad, supporting U2 on their Vertigo tour. He recorded his third album, “Addicted to Company Pt. 1,” in Los Angeles which featured a guest appearance by former bandmate and solo artist Declan O’Rourke.. The album was released in Ireland in September 2007 and in the US in April 2008, with Casey promoting it through tours and appearances, including on the Late Show with David Letterman.

After parting ways with Sony and Paul McGuinness, Casey independently released “The Secret Life Of” in 2012, recorded at home with producer Pat Donne. The single “Wait,” featuring the Shannon Gospel Choir, preceded the album’s release. Casey continued touring internationally, visiting Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.

In 2016, Casey released the single “Everything Must Change”. His double album “Turn This Ship Around” was released on August 6, 2021, featuring a mix of acoustic songs and full-band tracks.

Casey’s influences include Duke Ellington, John Martyn, The Waterboys, Prince, and Sly & The Family Stone.
