Volunteer with Us

We are a voluntary group, and everything we achieve is thanks to the time, skills, and energy of our volunteers. Whether you’re interested in local history, community events, or creative projects, there are many ways you can get involved and make a difference.

Here are just some of the ways you can lend a hand:

  • Join our committee – Help guide our projects and shape future plans
  • Support events – Assist with ushering, stewarding, or setting up on the day
  • Contribute to research – Help uncover and document local history
  • Administrative support – Assist with tasks like note-taking, managing accounts, or strategic planning
  • Technical help – Provide support with equipment, websites, or digital tools
  • Creative contributions – Share your skills in video, illustration, design, content writing, or model making
  • Research – Research people, buildings, events and other items in the area.

If you’d like to get involved or learn more, we’d love to hear from you!

Research

Research is at the heart of what we do. Many of our projects explore local stories, people, places, and events, helping to uncover and preserve the rich history of Crumlin, Walkinstown, and the surrounding areas.

We’ve identified over 500 topics we hope to explore — from old buildings and local businesses to historical events and family histories. Our findings are shared through our Research Hub, public talks, heritage signage scheme, walking tours, exhibitions, and online publications.

You don’t need any prior experience to get involved — we can guide you through the process and provide support along the way. Our team collaborates using a private research workspace, where members can access upcoming topics, share notes, and develop drafts before publication.

If you’re curious, enjoy digging into the past, or just want to get started on something local and meaningful, visit our Research Hub, to explore our work — or get in touch to join our research team.

If you would like to donate you can do so below, please get in touch. We are currently also fundraising for our heritage sign scheme. All donations would be used to further our events, initiatives and research.

If you want to support the work we are doing, you can select donation figure below and press donate.
