Reprisals Near Dublin

May 6, 1921

Early yesterday morning the Half-way House, Crumlin road, on the outskirts of Dublin, where and ambush is reported to have taken place a few days ago, was completely gutted by fire. Armed men, with blackened faces, after ejecting the occupants in the rain at 2am, copiously sprinkled petrol in the different rooms, after which they set fire to the premises, which was quickly destroyed. All the now remain of a splendid house.
